Intellivision 2 commercial

Posted in Uncategorized by goofy328 on October 28th, 2007

This one sort of picks up where the last commercial left off, as the young actor continued to make a name for himself (you may remember him from E.T. the Extra Terrestrial). One lost subtlety of this commercial is the fact that the old man is writing the young boy on a typewriter and the young boy is writing back to him using pen and paper, about a video game. The thoughtfulness that goes into the communication between them is a nice way of suggesting that Intellivision is the gaming system for the intelligent, creative mind, as opposed to Atari (which was their primary competition at the time). Most of the Intellivision commercials were like this; Atari had some nice commercials, but you can tell that Intellivision may have had a well established ad agency at a time when video gaming was still in it’s infancy.
