Stop wasting your time calling HRT trying to get directions to get to where you need to go. Use Google Transit and make your life easier. They not only tell you the exact buses that you need to take, but when the next one runs (from when you did your search). For example, say I want to get from Cuffee Library to Military Circle, I do a search on Military Mall in Norfolk, which gives me
880 N Military Hwy, Norfolk, VA
Then I do the same for Cuffee Library, which is
2726 Border Road Chesapeake, VA 23324
Then of course I do my usual map from point A to B, where it says Directions: Drive There, click on Take Public Transit. You’ll see it gives you directions on how to use the bus.
As you can see, it typically takes an hour and 16 minutes (at least it did at the time of this post), and you take buses 13 & 15 to get there. They even tell you to walk to Wingfield & Berkely, which should take 3 minutes to do. It only takes an extra dollar to drive there, so it is well worth the extra money to save like a half hour off of that trip, but you get the point.
This is only available in the larger metros, such as those in California, Texas, and even Japan. DC, New York and Chicago aren’t on this list, in fact you can check it out here. But anyone who has ever had to rely on the operators on the phone can testity that it is a service well worth using …
