Bacardi: mannequin

I’m not sure if anyone has seen this commercial since I watch the satellite often and don’t have to experience the travesty of watching it, but anyone with a subscription to adcritic.com can check it out. Mannequin ad at adcritic.com

I don’t visit alchohol sites often, because I don’t drink, but I tried checking out the bacardi silver website, you know, to see if I could find that ad. I didn’t, but I ended up in some strange, bizzare simulated world with psychedelic, space inspired music in which I was supposed to socialize with other “females” I guess. I don’t know. They had games like “digital spin the bottle”. Hey I don’t know about you, but if you’re still playing spin the bottle at my age and you’re in the thirties something is seriously wrong. I left promptly.

Anyway, back to the mannequin. Why do they continue to insult the intelligence of alcohol drinkers? Anyone who has actually watched the movie mannequin does not want to be subjected to the idea of a mannequin having a life of his own, being the life of the party again.

I mean I was happy that Andrew McCarthy had a career outside of such movies like “Pretty in Pink” but, not quite in this way. What disturbing message are we sending to our youth, who we discourage from having imaginary friends, when they see us interacting with a hot mannequin? It is the fall of civilization.
